How Do We Make Our Recipe Cutting Boards?

 The team here at Kustom Products Inc frequently get asked the question: "How does my recipe go from this piece of paper to the cutting board?"

Allow us to explain!

STEP 1: The first step is to get a copy of the recipe or message that you want engraved on the cutting board. When you send us your recipe, there are a few requirements we ask of you to ensure that when your recipe is engraved, it looks exactly like it did when you sent it in to us.

The most important is to make sure that we can read the handwriting- this means, if the writing is too light, you need to darken it, and that any words that are blotted out or are missing from the page need to be fixed prior to sending the recipe. We also need to be sure that your picture is taken straight overhead to prevent any slanted writing, and that if your recipe is two notecards or two pages that they are combined into one image in the way you want the recipe engraved.

STEP 2: Once you've sent in your recipe, our graphics team begins to handtrace it! This process can be tedious and time consuming, with some longer and more detailed recipes taking up to 36 hours! Can you imagine having to trace over someone else's handwriting, and sometimes even over the hand drawn images on their recipe? It takes a lot of work and concentration! Luckily, our graphics team does a great job at making sure the integrity and quality of your recipe shines through for the engraving.

STEP 3: When our team has finished handtracing your recipe, they give us the go-ahead to engrave it! We set up your recipe exactly how you wanted it on the size board you chose, making sure it's centered and able to be read clearly. Then we engrave your board and watch the recipe come to life before us! Engraving a recipe can take anywhere from 15 minutes for a small recipe to 60 minutes for longer recipes with more loops and twists in the cursive letters. 

STEP 4: We pack up, wrap and ship out your beloved family heirloom to be received by teary eyes and big smiles! This is our favorite part of the entire process, because you, the wonderful customer, likes to reach back out to us with joy and glee over how beautiful the recipe is and how much it means to you. It's a crazy good feeling to know that we're giving you a gift you'll cherish for a lifetime.
